FUNDING

PLLC Student Clubs Sponsored by a Philanthropic Investment by TELUS

The Peter Lougheed Leadership College supports undergraduate student-led clubs across campus to grow leadership, spark collaboration, and make a difference.

Whether it’s teaching leadership, practicing it through executive roles, or building skills through events and training, these clubs offer hands-on experiences that build community and create impact.

Thanks to the generous investment from TELUS funding, PLLC sponsors clubs from all kinds of disciplines — from social justice and arts to real estate, entrepreneurship, and sports. There’s a place for every passion — and every future leader.

To qualify for funding, student clubs must:

  • Be officially registered with their campus student association (e.g., UASU or Augustana Students’ Association)

  • Have an active club bank account to receive funds

  • Provide a statement outlining the club’s mission, vision and values

Interested undergraduate student clubs may apply by contacting pllc@ualberta.ca to arrange a virtual or in-person meeting between the PLLC Director and Club Executives.

Clubs may apply at any time for funding to support activities scheduled between January and December of the calendar year.

Book a Meeting

  • Not all clubs will receive funding.

  • Funding decisions are made by the PLLC Director following a meeting with the club's executive team. Executive teams are notified of the decision within 7-10 business days.

  • Typical grant amounts range from $1,000 to $3,000 per calendar year (January–December).

  • Clubs may also apply for funding toward a specific activity or initiative.

  • Future funding decisions take into account:

    • The club’s engagement in leadership initiatives

    • Timely submission of content for the annual August report to TELUS

    • Funding capacity based on annual allotment

Each funded club is required to submit a short written summary of their funded activities along with a photo from a related club event, by August of the current calendar year. This content will be featured in the PLLC’s annual report to TELUS.

Clubs We Sponsor

Thanks to the generous support of TELUS, Peter Lougheed Leadership College is proud to currently sponsor over 30 student-run clubs:

With the support of the Peter Lougheed Leadership College, we were able to host a successful Movember campaign that would not have been possible without this funding. The grant enabled us to run awareness events, fitness challenges, and promotional campaigns that reached hundreds of students, encouraging important conversations about men's health. Beyond the events themselves, the initiative empowered our members to step into leadership roles — developing skills in marketing, event planning, and public speaking — while also strengthening their mental and physical resilience. The impact was clear: we saw a growing sense of self-confidence, purpose, and community among our group members
