Faculty Excellence

Congratulations to David Deephouse on being named a 2025 ASAC Fellow. This honour recognizes his excellence in research, commitment to mentoring emerging scholars, and continued contributions to advancing the Canadian academic community. 

Congratulations to Noah Castelo on his appointment as the Ronald K. Banister Chair in Business for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2025.

Emily Block has been reappointed as the George M. Cormie Chair for a five-year term beginning July 1, 2025. Congratulations!

Karim Jamal, Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Analytics at the Alberta School of Business, has been appointed President-Elect of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA). Please join us in congratulating him on this important leadership role within the academic accounting community.


Student Success

Business student Rachel Grenke is headed to Germany to represent Team Canada at the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games! Rachel, a standout in pole vault and a Canada West gold medallist, is one of five U of A student-athletes selected to compete on the international stage this July.

Congratulations to U of A MBA alumnus Gordon Sheppard (’13), CEO of Executive Wins, whose Executive Wins Podcast has been named Best New Podcast at the 2025 Quill Podcast Awards. Featuring senior leaders who share their biggest wins, the podcast is a valuable resource for those looking to grow their businesses and be inspired by real-world leadership stories.

Congratulations to recent graduate Marlow Pfeifer on being named one of Canada’s 2024 Futures Fund Scholars. Marlow was one of just ten business students selected nationwide to attend the Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year Award Gala, proudly representing the Alberta School of Business.
